Історія кафедри англійської філології
Підготовку за спеціальністю «Англійська мова» було розпочато у нашому університеті у вересні 1965 року, з моменту заснування Донецького державного університету на базі Донецького філіалу Харківського державного університету ім. В.Н. Каразіна. Підставою для відокремлення університету були наступні документи: постанова Ради Міністрів СРСР № 421 від 28 травня 1965 р., постанова Ради Міністрів УРСР № 572 від 11 липня 1965 року і Наказ Міністерства вищої і середньої спеціальної освіти УРСР № 410 від 7 липня 1965 р.
Першим завідувачем кафедри була Надія Михайлівна Писаревська. Її наступницями на цій посаді стали Єжкова Р.В., Бунтіна Т.А., Богатирьова С.Т., Бессонова О.Л., Залужна О.О. Зараз обов’язки завідувача кафедрою виконує кандидат філологічних наук, доцент кафедри Майя Миколаївна Юрковська. Кафедра готує студентів за спеціальністю «Англійська мова і переклад» на денній формі навчання.
Основною метою діяльності кафедри є забезпечення потреби регіону у висококваліфікованих фахівцях, які мають поєднувати високу професійну компетентність у галузі англійської філології з загальною культурою і здатністю до впровадження і використання сучасних лінгвістичних досліджень та нових методик викладання іноземних мов у навчальних закладах різних рівнів: у загальноосвітніх школах, школах із поглибленим вивченням іноземної мови, ліцеях, гімназіях та у вищих навчальних закладах. Виконання цього завдання покладено на висококваліфікованих (штатних і позаштатних) викладачів, серед яких 3 доцентів, 4 кандидатів філологічних наук, та 1 асистент. Кафедра англійської філології постійно дбає про формування стабільного резерву викладацьких кадрів. Щорічно після закінчення державних іспитів кращі випускники отримують рекомендації в аспірантуру і призначення на посаду викладача кафедри.
Випускники кафедри працюють у багатьох містах України та інших країн. Вони завдячують колективу кафедри своїми знаннями і відмінними професійними уміннями.
History of the Department
The Department started its educational mission in spring of preparing specialists in “English Language”. The first Head of the Department was N. Pysarevska, who was followed by R. Yezhkova, T. Buntina, S. Bohatyriova, O. Bessonova, O. Zaluzhna. Currently the Department is headed by PhD Maiia Yurkovska.
Presently, the main aim the department pursues is to answer the needs of the region in highly qualified specialists who can combine competences in the English language mastering with rich background philological awareness and knowledge of modern cultural context. The graduates are able to provide educational process at educational establishments of different levels, i.e., primary and secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, technical schools and higher educational establishments. The above task is fulfilled by highly qualified team of teachers which includes four PhDs, and one assistant. The chamber always welcomes their best graduates to join the team, many of our graduates continue their education as post-graduate students.
The Department of English Philology has modern computer equipment, which is connected to a single network, and plays an important role in improving the educational process. The Department takes care of teaching the students how to use computer software in educational process of various aspects of the English language mastering.
The teachers of the department work in order to improve the information and technical support of the educational process: all teachers have the opportunity to use laptops, audio and video materials, materials on the Internet and telecommunications systems, multimedia projectors.
Multimedia technologies are introduced into the methods of teaching for practical and theoretical disciplines of the department, which contributes to the growth of the quality of educational activities. Multimedia support is used in such lecture courses as “Comparative Grammar of the English and Ukrainian Languages”, “Comparative Lexicology of the English and Ukrainian Languages”, “Theoretical Phonetics”, “Sociolinguistics”, etc.
The Department graduates work in many towns and cities around Ukraine and abroad (the USA, Australia, Germany, France, Latvia, Poland, etc.).
