The team from Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University, consisting of project manager Olga Odintsova and project participants Iryna Harbera, Iryna Zapukhliak, Natali Striuk, and Olesia Boivan, conducted another stage of training (in blended format) for DigiFLED project participants at the University of Tampere (Tampere, Finland) from August 19 to 23, 2024.

The study visit program was aimed at studying methodological aspects of gamification in the learning process, using games in foreign language learning, and developing key competencies for working with the Trados program.

Team representatives attended lectures by leading specialists from the University of Tampere: “Style in Academic Publishing: Bootcamp,” “Creating the Target File Processing and Translation Memories MT Technology,” and “Post-editing, MT and the Translation Profession.” During the study visit, teacher-developers of educational courses mastered basic strategies for developing digital testing and survey systems, as well as mechanisms for creating exercises aimed at actualizing translation memory. Separate workshops were dedicated to academic writing issues and current questions of academic style for researchers.

On August 22, representatives of the Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University team, within the cultural component of the project, visited the Ukrainian House (Ukraina Talo), a Ukrainian volunteer center whose representatives help Ukrainians seeking temporary shelter in Finland.

The DigiFLEd project team gained extremely valuable experience in the field of translation technologies and academic text editing.
